A New Year is a benchmark that you made it through the last year and it is time to celebrate! Planning your night out with a rented vehicle along with a driver guarantees that you can drink without the worries of traffic. We all know that there will be a lot of traffic but for this night most of the traffic has been drinking and you do not need the stress of driving along side of them. Alcohol can be fun but we all have to be responsible by knowing what our limits are and assigning someone else to drive that will not be drinking. Plus a DWI or DUI can ruin a person’s life, emotionally and financially for years!  Book early and book now! Hummers, Limos, Escalade, Party Bus, Shuttle Bus! Lets Do This!!!!

Christmas LimoIts that time again! The merry land of Christmas Tours! Santa Clause! Sleigh Bells! Awesome Christmas Light Tours! And Gift Giving!!! Who doesn’t enjoy giving and receiving gifts? Although over the years, the personal side of selecting that one special gift for that special someone has become not so “personal”. We have traded shopping from store to store to gift cards and baskets, not very personable. At Price My Limo, we have tried to make the gift certificates “personal” by adding the person’s name and event and also a special message from you. Come see if you would like to give a certificate for a limousine or party bus to your special someone.

Christmas Light TourNormally around this time of year, our clients take a limousine with tinted windows to gaze at Christmas lights while enjoying their favorite cider or alcoholic drink. Oh and listening to a special playlist of Christmas tunes that they have on their phones connected to the speakers in the limo. There are several different places that you can enjoy a tour of lights or you can plan your evening to see several different ones.

Prom Limo Party Bus

Prom Season

Prom Season can be such an exciting time until you get to the part where you rent the limousine or party bus. First all your friends agree to pitch in Prom Limo Busand help pay for it and then back out after you have put down your deposit. Now you have to replace them or lose your deposit!

The limo companies aren’t any help because they see you as a kid and do not give any advice or talk down to you like your money isn’t just as green as the adults money! Even worse when they don’t answer the phone and you leave several messages just to get ONE answer! Oh and the fees! Really? They start at one price and then add all the fees into and now you’re paying this stupid amount! Is it really all worth the headache???? The answer is yes….it’s your only prom and we will help you!

Price A Prom Limo or Party Bus

prom budgetAt Price My Limo, we would never speak down to you or ignore your phone call. We like to treat people the way we want to be treated. The first thing you need to do before contacting a limousine company is to talk with your friends. Make sure your parents and their parents are involved on the set budget. This will help your friends understand there is no backing out once the deposit is paid.

Set a budget for each person that wants to go with you. For example, $75 a piece would give you a budget of $600 for 8 people in a Lincoln limousine or a budget of $1500 for 20 people in a party bus. Once you have the budget set, call the limousine service (preferably us) and get the price quote of the vehicle. If the quote is higher than your budget, make a few more calls! The larger the bus/limo and the more time needed, the more it will cost. There is normally a 6 hour minimum on all prom vehicles.

What Is The Best Vehicle For My Prom?

prom limoThe best vehicle is up to you and your friends! The way to calculate the vehicle you need to fit everyone comfortably is to remember to add 2 to your final count. That will give you some room between each person and also keep in mind the size of all your friends. Ford tells us that a town car will seat 4 plus the driver but from experience it will only seat 2-3 comfortably.  An SUV will seat 7, but only 6 comfortably. A regular limousine is kinda tricky! Most seat 8 adults, but there are some that are made to seat 10 adults because they are longer. So if you have 10 passengers it is best to go see the vehicle in person.

If the limo company tells you that it fits 10, they will not be lying to you, just going off the manufacturers recommendations. The SUV limousines, like the Hummer, Escalade or Excursion hold up to 18 comfortably so its always a safe bet for 10 or more passengers. You will arrive in style with any of these vehicles. Now lets talk party buses!

Party Bus

A party bus is a bus that has been overhauled on the inside to include awesome amenities! prom party busThe seats have been turned into limo style so you do not  face forwards but face each other. Normally there is a dance pole, disco lights and flat screen TVs to play videos. There should also be an auxiliary or bluetooth to play your music list off you Ipad or cell phone! But not all party buses are created the same! For example, if someone gets an old bus and completely renovates the inside, you still have an old engine! The last thing you need is to break down on prom night! Read the fine terms.

Make arrangements to go see the bus, what do the outside panels of the bus look like? If they have waves in the side panels then the bus is old. They will start the bus for you and dazzle you will everything on the inside, but while they are doing that, you check to see if the AC is blowing cold. Listen to the engine from the outside for strange noises while the AC is running. Look for loose wires along the walls of the bus and where the driver sits, if you dont trust it, walk away. Prom night should not consist of trying to get out of a bus that is on fire!

Other Prom Factors

If you have found a vehicle that you really want, you need to know if it has insurance just in case something happens. Although you do not need a CDL to drive all the vehicles, you MUST have a passenger endorsement on your license. You as a consumer should be able to ask if the driver has the correct licensing because if you get pulled over, you will be made to get off the bus and then what? Legal vehicles have the DOT (dept of transportation) number on the side, be sure to take down that number to verify with DOT that it is up to date. Motor carrier registration (TxDMV Number) is available for seven calendar days, 90 days, one year or two years. A motor carrier certificate of registration is non-transferable between carriers.

Get All Information In Writing!

All information that you agree to should be placed in writing, although verbal agreements are legal in Texas, to protect yourself, it should be in writing. Before you pay any money, you will need the price of the vehicle, any and all fees, will this include gratuity for the driver and will there be taxes? Explain that you do not want to come out of pocket for anything else. Get it in writing even an email confirmation will work. If you decide to use a broker like Limos.com or Price4Limo they will have guarantees but you will have to pay more money rather than renting straight from a limo company that actually owns the vehicles.

To avoid having all these problems hire a company you can trust! Check reviews all over the internet including the Better Business Bureau. Reviews are other people telling you what happened when they used this company.

Worst Wedding Ever

Ever wonder about the stories of the wild weddings? You try to cover every aspect to make sure your wedding goes smoothly, but it is the things that go wrong that make the greatest stories ever!

“Prior to the reception, my husband gave his older brother envelopes containing tips for the various vendors. With less than an hour left of the reception my husband approached his brother and asked for the DJ’s envelope. He swore up and down that he had given the envelope back to my husband an hour prior. This enraged my husband, who had no recollection of this. Things got heated, words were exchanged, a punch was thrown and my husband actually had to be restrained. As I helped calm him down, he patted his pocket and found…the DJ’s envelope. Guess he had had more to drink than he realized.” – Nicole

My new husband left the reception for about two hours. We all started searching for him everywhere! We finally found him smoking weed with the groomsmen outside in the woods. He didn’t want to go back to the reception so they never cut their cake or did a first dance. – Stephanie

“I got my period (completely out of the blue and a full week early) on my wedding day. Unfortunately, my sister was the one to discover this while helping me go to the bathroom two minutes before I was supposed to walk down the aisle (all I could see was miles and miles of white satin). I had EIGHT bridesmaids, two female photographers, two of my groomsmen’s girlfriends, and 3 different emergency kits in that little room, but not. one. damn. tampon. Various members of my wedding party then had to approach complete strangers in an art museum whispering for sanitary products. 15 minutes later, one of my girls produced an applicator-less tampon. I had NEVER seen one before so I had to ask how they worked. So yeah, I had to blindly finger myself on my wedding day in front of a roomful of people giving me verbal guidance.”- Amanda

stolen limorelaxing“We ordered the limo at least 2 months early and my maid of honor whispered in my ear when it pulled up. Just like teen age girls we ran to the window to see! The driver got out and walked towards the church and I have never been so excited! I remember seeing the driver as I walked down the aisle. We went through the whole ceremony and as we opened the doors, the very pretty, shiny limousine was gone! The driver was standing where the limousine was and on the phone. Then the police arrived and took reports, but the limo service sent out a nice town car to take us away from the wedding (at no extra charge). – Julie

wedding dressA Michigan bride was busted on her wedding day. Police stated that the woman was wanted on a three-year old felony warrant for identity theft and police believed that she had moved to Florida. Tips came in from people in the area that the woman would be returning to the Jackson area for her wedding on Saturday… so along with the groom and guests, police waited at the church for the bride.  As soon as the couple said their vows, the bride was arrested by a Blackman Township police officer. Police let the couple take their wedding pictures and offered to let her change out of her gown before being brought to the police station to be booked, but she declined the offer and was booked in her wedding gown.  The new bride was picked up from the police station by her husband after posting bond. What a great story to tell your future kids!

Never let the things that go wrong bother you, they make the greatest stories!

How Much Should I Pay For A Limo?

payingRenting a limousine can add class and luxury to any event. Renting a party bus can make it a serious night on the town. But how do you know if you are paying the right amount? Or even getting a good deal? As we have all learned, the cheapest is not always the best. For example, a standard 6-8 person limousine starts around $65-$100 an hour and usually has a minimum of hours to rent. The cheaper quotes then start attaching different “fees” to make up for the cheaper hourly price.

Limo Fees?limo fees

Yes “fees” for example, a fuel charge or surcharge, usually around 20% of your total. Some charge taxes and some do not. Some make it mandatory for a tip to the driver and some make it where you tip the driver according to the services you get. The State of Texas has this to say about taxes on limousine services:

Limousines and Shuttles
Separately stated charges for limousine or shuttle service are not taxable if the primary purpose is to provide transportation from one location to another. Limousine rental is taxable if the primary intent is to provide a tour of points of interest along a route. A lump-sum charge to a customer for a package including banquet facility rental with food and limousine service is taxable.

limo timeThe clock should start when the limo service arrives at your location, but if you are outside of their immediate pick up area some companies start the rental clock when the limousine leaves the garage. Typically you can also expect to pay for the limo while it’s waiting for you, even when you’re inside enjoying your event. This is because although you are not using the vehicle, the driver is still waiting for you and he is paid hourly.

Most companies allow guests to bring their own alcohol, but the State of Texas does not allow the limo services todrunk limo guy serve you alcohol. Underage drinking is never legal inside a limousine. During Prom Season, no backpacks or bottled water is allowed inside the limousine and the drinks are provided to you. If anyone underage is caught drinking, the driver will be held responsible.

Only a few allow smoking in the vehicle but usually charge a cleaning fee. If smoking is allowed, the person renting the limousine will be charged if the vehicle is soiled or damaged.

Each vehicle has a maximum occupancy rating but it is always better to rent something a little bigger than what the rating is because the ratings include the driver. The standard 10-person Lincoln limousine actually holds up to 8 people in the back and 2 (including the driver) up front. The larger limousines like the Hummer, Excursion or Escalade state they have an occupancy of 20 but only 18 can fit comfortably.

Any Additional Costs?

Some companies charge a per-stop fee ($15-$30 per stop, although it varies) if there are multiple pick-up or drop-off locations. Ask in advance if this applies.
Most rental rates do not include the driver’s tip, which should be anywhere from 10-20 percent of the cost, given in cash at the end. Some hourly rentals include an automatic 20 percent gratuity — so check to be sure before tipping.
When gas costs soars, many limousine companies added a 5-10 percent fuel surcharge for longer trips.
Hourly charges are usually calculated in 15-minute increments, and overtime charges are usually much higher than the standard rate, starting around $130-$300 or more an hour. It can be better to book a limo for a flat fee for the day than to run the risk of running over on a rental.

Ask specific questions about the vehicle you’re renting. If you can, go see the vehicle before booking it, or check out photos online. Most limousine companies are local or regional operations. Get price quotes from several companies and check for complains with the Better Business Bureau. Always check the reviews, these are people that have used the services and are telling you all about them.
Most limousine companies require payment in full or a deposit. Insist on a written and signed contract specifying all the details. Do not rely solely on verbal assurances of what you are renting.limo cartoon

Things might get messed up, its not the problems that make a bad limousine company, its how they correct the problems!
